Sizing Options

While the standard sizing – twin, queen, king, etc. – gives you an idea of a mattress’ size, it does not tell the full story. You should also consider the height and weight of each mattress. These factors are important to check to ensure your bed will fit well with your existing bed frame, and that it will be manageable to move around.

It is important for a range of reasons on both comfort and practical levels. You must consider if this mattress will fit in your home, and how to maneuver it around if you share a bed with a partner, child, or pets. There are generally three mattress sizes: twins, fulls, and queens.

While standard mattress sizes give you a general idea of bed size, they only tell part of the story. Before you buy a mattress it is important to consider the height and weight of each mattress. It is also wise to check that your mattress will fit well with your existing bed frame, and can be easily moved around just in case you need to move it out of the way for house guests or for cleaning.

The following chart gives you the rough measurement of each type of mattress size, but you should also look at the height and weight capacity to make sure it will work well with your bed frame and home’s dimensions. Below is a table that shows the sizes:

Casper and Leesa also provide a variety of mattresses from which to select. Five individual models are sold by Casper, while Leesa offers four individual models. A combination of all-foam and hybrid mattresses are sold by both brands.

Casper mattresses are designed to work with you, offering the perfect balance of comfort and support. Each mattress offers four layers of foam that work together to provide just the right amount of give.* *The Casper, The Wave Hybrid, and Nova Hybrid feature 6 layers of foam and 1 layer of polyester; the all-foam Casper features 2 layers of memory foam and 4 layers of polyfoam. The added layering and material result in a higher quality mattress with more support. Read full Casper mattress review here.

There is a lot to consider when choosing between Casper and Leesa, let alone within each model. Let’s take a closer look at each mattress.

Construction and Materials Comparison

The composition and materials used in each bed significantly contribute to comfort, support, and durability, so we’ll compare the construction of each model from both Casper and Leesa.

First of all, it is helpful to understand the differences between foam beds and hybrid beds.

With an all-foam design, the Spring Air All-Foam Comfort Mattress has the option of two different firmness levels. Firm mattresses are ideal for most people, but if you prefer a plush feel, simply flip over to the soft side. The Spring Air All-Foam is very supportive, however it also conforms to your body and reduces pressure points better than a standard innerspring mattress for relief from pain and stiffness.

The Hybrid Mattress combines foam and coils to create a versatile and durable mattress. Elevated with innerspring coils and topped with layers of supportive foam, the Hybrid offers great back support for those who need it. The Hybrid is perfect for people who prefer both foam and coils, thanks to its two separate layering systems.

First, let’s analyze each of these mattresses’ basic composition and materials:

Three separate mattresses are sold by Leesa, one all-foam along with two hybrids. The compositions and designs of each Leesa mattress are listed below:

The Leesa Original is an all-foam mattress made with:

  • 6” polyfoam support core
  • 2” polyfoam comfort layer
  • 2” memory foam pressure-relief layer
  • Polyester blend cover
Leesa Adjustable bed frame 2

The Leesa is offered at an accessible price point, yet still has all the features of an expensive mattress. This mattress uses a comfortable 3-Layer Design with premium materials that relieve pressure and keep you cool throughout the night. The Leesa also includes free delivery, free returns, and a lifetime warranty! Made in the USA.

Leesa Hybrid

The Leesa Hybrid is a hybrid mattress made with:

  • 6” pocketed metal coils
  • 1” polyfoam transition layer
  • 1.5” perforated polyfoam layer for breathability
  • 1.5” memory foam pressure relief layer
  • 1” polyfoam transition layer

The Leesa Hybrid is priced a bit cheaper than the all foam version, but it offers some distinct benefits including better edge support and improved durability. It’s a definite upgrade from the all foam version. This mattress benefits from the same high-quality cover as the original Leesa, which keeps everything inside. The pocketed coils are built into the base of the mattress and serve to pull the top layer closer to your body, giving you better support and deeper comfort. This new model will keep you sleeping cool and comfortable throughout the night, so that you can wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and energized.

Leesa Legend

The Leesa Legend mattress is a luxury hybrid mattress made with:

  • 6” pocketed metal coil support layer
  • 1.5” micro pocketed coils for targeted pressure relief in hips and shoulders
  • 1” support foam transition layer
  • 1” high-density support foam
  • 1” ventilated poly foam cooling layer
  • 1” memory foam pressure relief layer
  • Cover made of blended polyester, recycled PES, cotton, merino wool, rayon, and spandex

The Leesa Legend is the first mattress to combine two distinct layers of pocketed coils, and we think it’s pretty remarkable. The 6” coil layer provides the underlying form and support for the bed, while the 1.5” of micro coils provide targeted support to your hips and shoulders. We think you’ll appreciate this unique all-foam, cool-to-the-touch mattress that makes sleeping well for a reasonable price possible; it’s American-made in our own factory, too!

Studio By Leesa

The Studio by Leesa is an all-foam mattress made with the following:

  • 1.5″ memory foam
  • 1.5″ transitional memory foam
  • 7″ high-density base polyfoam
  • Polyester-blend cover

The Studio boasts a slightly firmer feel compared to the flagship model, and is designed to offer deep contouring and even weight distribution. We’ve packed this mattress with two memory foam layers, which feel soft right away but firm up over time to support your body fully and evenly create a deep sleep.

There are five different Casper versions to pick from. Covers made of a mixture of polyester, upcycled cotton, polyester, rayon, and Lycra are available for all models. Every version’s compositions and constructions are listed below:

The Casper is an all-foam mattress made with:

  • 1.5” open-cell polyfoam
  • 2” zoned memory foam
  • 7” polyfoam support core
Casper Adjustable Bed frame 1

The Casper is the flagship model from Casper, and the most popular. It features a well-balanced composition, and is designed to be a crowd-pleaser, suiting a wide variety of sleepers. Despite its moderate price tag, it does offer a few advanced materials and features. Open-cell polyfoam helps increase airflow, which keeps the bed cooler on hot nights. A zoned transition layer provides more support where it’s needed most, which helps improve conforming around the hips, shoulders, and neck.

Casper Hybrid

Casper Hybrid utilizes the same comfort and transitional layers as the original Casper, but it replaces the polyfoam support core with 6 inches of pocketed coils that are reinforced by a 7-inch polyfoam encasement. Using similar construction techniques as mattresses that cost thousands of dollars more, we’ve also created industry-leading edge support and motion transfer. For instance, people weighing up to 500 pounds will find the Casper Hybrid provides an excellent level of supportive. This is an extremely high quality mattress at a deeply affordable price point.

Casper Wave Hybrid

The Casper Wave Hybrid  is a luxury hybrid mattress made with:

  • 1.5″ open-cell ventilated polyfoam
  • 1.5″ ventilated latex
  • 1.5″ zoned memory foam
  • 1.5″ polyfoam with targeted gel pods
  • 6″ pocketed coils in a 7″ polyfoam encasement

The Wave Hybrid mattress offers a more luxurious feel with targeted gel pods and pressure-relieving foam layers, plus unique responsive perforated foam. This is an especially good choice for those looking for all-over body support, and those who prefer a more luxurious, supportive feel. If you want to sleep cooler at night, look no further than our Wave Hybrid.

Casper Nova Hybrid

The Casper Nova Hybrid mattress includes the following features:

  • 1″ adaptive polyfoam
  • 1.5″ zoned polyfoam
  • 2″ contour-cut memory foam
  • 6″ pocketed coils in a 7″ polyfoam encasement
Casper Adjustable Bed frame

Casper’s newest mattress, the Nova Hybrid offers a plush medium soft (4) feel and deep body conforming. In addition to an adaptive polyfoam comfort layer, the mattress includes a secondary polyfoam comfort layer that is divided into three firmness zones. This ensures strong support for the midsection and hips and gentler cradling for the head, neck, shoulders, and legs. The Nova Hybrid is ideal for people who prefer a soft, cloud-like feel for their mattress.

Casper Element

The Casper Element is a budget-friendly all-foam mattress made with:

  • 3″ ventilated polyfoam
  • 6.5” polyfoam support core
Casper Adjustable Bed frame 1

The Casper Element is a more basic model that removes some of the advanced features of our other Casper models to offer a very budget-friendly option. It features an open cell foam encased in soft, quilted cover that offers a bouncy feel, breathable comfort, and a soft touch. This mattress is designed so you can use it without a box spring.

Average Customer Ratings

When you’re buying a mattress, customer reviews are the only way to know what people think about it. For memory foam mattresses, reviews are especially important given how different they have a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Reviewers will comment on their experiences with the actual mattress and the out-of-the box experience.

Reviews should not be taken literally, since each person has different tastes and experiences. To get an idea of consumer opinion, we recommend looking at the average rating for each mattress.

Beyond product reviews it is helpful to look at an overall rating of each company. The best way to do this is to check the parent company’s rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB):

In-Depth Ratings

The bed that you’re sleeping on right now is an important part of a healthier and more productive life. It’s time to rethink your options and invest in high-quality materials, edge support, temperature neutrality, and motion isolation when shopping for new bedding. We will start by explaining these factors and why they matter.

Motion transfer is a measurement of how much the sleep surface moves when you move on the mattress. In other words, it’s your mattress’s ability to isolate motion. The less motion transfer, the more comfortable the night’s sleep.

A pressure-relieving latex comfort layer and a core of polyurethane foam combine to promote airflow and give you the pressure relief you want without sacrificing comfort. This Hybrid mattress contains a pocket spring system within the mattress base for better support. By dispersing body weight throughout the bed’s surface, it helps reduce pressure points—particularly important for those who are larger or deal with chronic pain. The comfort layer can be flipped over to extend its life.

Temperature neutrality refers to the ability of a bed to maintain a comfortable temperature during the night. For most sleepers, this means not getting too warm. Some foams tend to trap heat while other bedding materials or hybrid mattresses promote ventilation.

With innovative EdgeSupport Technology, you get the security of a strong platform bed with the comfort of a memory foam topper. Memory foam conforms to the body and alleviates pressure points for a satisfying night’s sleep, while the foam-encased edge support provides an extra layer of strength and durability to prevent roll-off. A layer of GelTouch Foam fabric between the comfort layers creates both a cool sleeping surface and helps eliminate heat transfer between you and your partner. The breathable cover is crafted of flame resistant fabric.

A bed that has a soft feel will allow you ease of movement. This is because it supports your body very well. If you are young, you may like a bed with a softer feel because it feels more comfortable and cozy for you. But if your body gets out of shape, it is harder to bend in a soft bed than in a firmer mattress that does not conform as closely to your body.

A mattress must have sufficient bounce and cushion to be enjoyable during sex. If the bed is too soft, you’ll find yourself frequently unable to thrust at optimal angles or levels of intensity. If a mattress is too firm, your body may acquire stress points that lead to aches and shooting pains during sex, particularly if your partner stays the night and puts pressure on these points (hips, elbows, knees).

Off-gassing occurs when a customer first unpacks and sets up their new mattress. Some of the materials used to produce foams have an odor, which is not able to escape until the mattress is allowed to air out for a day or two. Off-gassing is harmless, but it can produce a chemical odor that some people find unpleasant. All beds made with foams will have a period of off-gassing, but our ratings below reflect how each mattress model compares to the average in terms of the duration and intensity of off-gassing.

The right mattress for you is one that kept you comfortable all night. Great beds use the best materials and design to help you sleep through the night pain-free. The most important factor for good durability is the quality of the materials used. Our mattresses are designed with a combination of industry-leading foam, coils, and springs.

In-Depth Pricing

We’ve done the research for you and found that not everyone is looking to spend over $500 for a new bed. Some consumers are more concerned about finding a mattress that’s affordable, all while not compromising on quality. That’s why we wanted to find a bed that satisfied both of these criteria, but didn’t compromise on quality.

We know that buying a new mattress is a decision and investment that demands a lot of thought, research, and consideration. With so many options out there, it can be overwhelming for consumers to find the quality products without the high price tags. While quality beds often carry higher price points, they are typically made of materials – like all-natural latex – that are more amenable to longevity than particleboard or low-density foams.

Consider how much you’ll enjoy sleeping on your new mattress and whether this price suits this level of comfort. For example, with Nectar Lush or Memory foam mattresses you may find that they relieve pain from body ailments, so it will be worth paying extra for these types of mattresses for pain reduction as well as comfort.

Even within the product lines of Leesa and Casper, there are significant price differences. The table below compares the prices of each model from each company.

There are some differences in pricing between Leesa and Casper, especially in their flagship models. For larger mattress sizes, Casper tends to be a bit more expensive, while prices are almost identical on twin, twin XL, and full mattress sizes.

Casper does offer a wider range of price points, with models like the Element offering affordable prices. For mid-range and high-end models, both Casper and Leesa have great options.

Another benefit of Casper is that they offer a budget-friendly hybrid mattress. The Casper Hybrid is priced significantly lower than Leesa Hybrid, and has many similar features. For shoppers looking for a budget-friendly hybrid mattress, Casper is a good option.
