Best Mattresses For Back Pain Relief in 2022

A good mattress is not just for comfort but also for good back health. A quality mattress can support the spine and align the body correctly, reducing and preventing back pain.

Unfortunately, not all mattresses are created equally. Price does not always indicate quality. When you think about mattress brands, you probably think of big names such as Serta and Simmons. However, these brands are overpriced for your average consumer and use lower-quality materials and shabby designs to keep the price low enough for everyone to afford them.

If you’ve been searching for the right mattress, we’ve got you covered. Our guide to the best mattress for back pain makes it easy to find the perfect mattress for a restful night’s sleep. We recommend our top ten mattresses for back pain (as chosen by Home Devoir staff) and explain how your mattress can help relieve aches and pains that keep you tossing and turning. Searching for a good mattress should be simple, but picking one can be confusing, especially with all the options available in department stores, online outlets, and other retail shops. We know you are short on time so we’ve compiled a list of our top ten mattresses and explained why they are all impressively comfortable.

Best for Back Sleepers

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss

Firmness is all relative, but for a mattress in the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss’ price range, this mattress is a great option for side sleepers and stomach sleepers alike. The mattress has a soft, comfortable feel with a medium-firm support level that should be considered by anyone looking for a natural latex mattress or an organic wool mattress.

Don’t worry if you have back pain. There are many mattresses made of latex available. Check out PlushBeds Botanical Bliss. They are all organic and will give you the support your body needs.

If you’re wondering just how eco-friendly a mattress is, PlushBeds Natural Bliss uses a 100% organic wool cover from Italy. This means that the sheep who provided the wool have not been exposed to harmful chemicals, and that even the process of spinning the wool has been done ina way that minimizes energy consumption. It should also be mentioned that this isn’t just a one-off feature: all of PlushBeds materials are certified by one or more international certifying bodies.

Now, let’s start with the cover. It’s made of wool. This is 100% natural and organic wool that has been grown without chemicals and is ethically sourced. I would have to say that the look and feel of this mattress definitely matches my expectations based on what I’ve read about wool in mattresses, and I can say with certainty that it is very soft. As to cleaning, PlushBeds recommends rotating the mattress every few months so that you have a chance for proper airing out between uses. However, if you’re using the mattress in a bed for two or three people, then such rotation might be unnecessary.

One size does not fit all, and that’s why the Botanical Bliss mattress gives you the choice to pick either a profile of 9 inches, 10 inches, or 12 inches. This means if you prefer a thicker mattress then you can opt for the 10 inch profile, and if you desire a thinner mattress then you can opt for the 9 or 12 inch profile. Additionally, this means that one person is not stuck with an unbearable firmness if they choose to purchase the 12 inch thickness profile because they simply can unzip the cover and swap the layers around to make it softer.

What makes the Botanical Bliss mattress so versatile? It is a combination of its organic and natural materials, as well as its customizable design. The Botanical Bliss, like every other natural mattress, uses plant-based organic and natural materials. But unlike competing products that are only partially organic, this mattress is totally organic from top to bottom. Entirely certified organic and made using eco-friendly materials, the Botanical Bliss is designed to be both eco-friendly and healthy for you.

The Botanical Bliss from Plushbeds was built with temperature regulation in mind. The latex is highly breathable, and doesn’t absorb body heat like memory foam does, while the wool cover has moisture-wicking properties to keep you cool and dry at night.

Our research has found that memory foam mattresses that have a higher density will last longer than lower-density foams. This means that the Botanical Bliss is likely to keep its shape and provide a higher quality sleep for many years after purchase. Furthermore, PlushBeds backs their mattress with a 25-year warranty and will send you a replacement or repair your existing model should there be any defective components or workmanship within the first ten years of ownership.

The Saatva was originally designed for people who suffer from lower back pain. The coil system and zoned construction provide contouring and cradling comfort throughout. Layered on top of the support core is a large, soft pillow top for maximum pressure relief.

Sleep in ultimate comfort with the Saatva mattress. Saatva’s coils are made out of a 13 gauge wire, and feature a perimeter of high-density foam encircling the entire coil. This unique design allows the coils to give you contouring support while keeping you squarely aligned with the mid-sleep point. It also gives you an extra level of supportiveness to cradle your body so that you can get a more restful sleep. Saatva mattresses are created using a combination of foams to give you that perfect feel. The top layers consist of two polyfoam layers for support.

The Saatva mattress is made with layers of Talalay Latex and polyfoam that help improve airflow and temperature regulation. The Talalay latex deeper in the mattress provides optimal pressure-relieving comfort while the top layer of foam allows for more bounce and a firmer feel.

The Saatva mattress is built around a firm and supportive innerspring design that provides back support, and has a breathable organic cotton cover. A 4” layer of individually-wrapped micro-coils allow the mattress to relieve pressure while upholding the stable feel of the support core. Since Saatva offers this mattress in three firmness levels (soft, medium, or firm), it’s a good choice for everyone from those who like plush mattresses to those who like firmer options.

The Saatva is an eco-friendly, fully organic, memory foam mattress covered in organic cotton and wool. Created to help you stay cool at night and relieve pressure, the four-inch layer of individually wrapped micro coils allows for the mattress to mold to the curves of your body. A euro-style pillow top keeps the mattress stuffed with a foam lumbar pad for extra support in the lower back. Unlike most mattresses, the Saatva also comes with a 15-year warranty.

Saatva is the first online luxury mattress company to use white-glove delivery in every market. This industry-leading service includes unpacking, removal of our packaging, and placement of your new mattress where you want it in your bedroom (up a flight of stairs or tight corners are not options). Saatva’s mattress is completely protected by a 15-year warranty that covers against manufacturer defects as well as a one-year trial period so you can test your new mattress for up to 180 nights.

The Helix Midnight Luxe hybrid mattress is composed of pocketed coils and a Tencel cover. It features Cool Twist gel memory foam that regulates body temperature to provide a comfortable sleep, and AirTouch foam that helps you adjust the amount of support to your personal preference.

The Helix Midnight Luxe mattress by Helix Mattress & Bedding has a hybrid design that has a responsive feel, with sinkage when you move around on the surface. Because of its layers, it sleeps cool and is good for sex — though you will get some latex smell if you don’t wash and try to use the bed right away.

The Helix Midnight Luxe is built for comfort. It features a zoned coil system with pocketed coils in the center third of the mattress, which promotes airflow and sinks just 6” under your body weight (no more “bottoming out”). The edge support is stout, too, thanks to the perimeter coils, which hold up to 250 lbs. on each side of the mattress.

The Luxe line by Helix Sleep includes six different hybrid mattresses. The Midnight Luxe is the company’s mid-level suggestion for sleepers who like to get a good night’s rest on a budget. Other mattresses in the same Luxe category include the Midnight Foam model, which offers firmness similar to memory foam and receives high reviews from those who prefer that type of comfort. If you want something softer and more plush, consider the Dusk Pillowtop or Daybreak innerspring models or the Hybrid Chill for a firmer feel once again. These three other Luxe mattresses all have free shipping as well and come with the 15-year warranty and 100-night sleep trial.

Most Innovative Mattress For Back Pain Relief

Level Sleep

I’m sure you are wondering by now what makes the Level Sleep mattress so special. Like most mattresses, it is pretty easy to find information on its firmness and feel. However, the key formula in this mattress that makes it stand out from the competition is its zoned design. Each layer is made up of different types of foam that helps with body contouring and pressure relief. In particular, the top layer contains foam that responds to the majority of body movements and contours to provide support where needed most. The bottom two layers are designed to work together to reinforce support as well as relieve pressure.

Ideal for most size and weight sleepers, The Level Sleep system features four zones of varying foam firmness that adjusts to you. The layer above the adaptive foam top layer is a patented memory foam, an industry first featuring two stages of one-inch foams with different densities. It acts as a buffer, providing comfort and pressure relief while maintaining proper spinal alignment.

The Level Sleep Mattress is a good choice for side and back sleepers, as it reduces pain and pressure better for these types of sleeper than most mattresses that make up this price point. It also ships and returns for free.

The Flippable Idle Hybrid is ideal for sleepers who enjoy the type of sinkage you get from memory foam, but want to also have the option of firmer support when they want it.

The Idle Hybrid consists of one top layer with two distinct firmness options, and one bottom layer with a single firmness option. Each side of the mattress is the same thickness to support edge-to-edge sleeping, but the mattress can be flipped between top and bottom sides when you want to change the feel.

With ikea-inspired simplicity, the Idle Hybrid mattress combines two materials in one—cotton and pocketed spring coils. Its sleek all-white cover fits perfectly with any decor while finely-crafted springs absorb movement for a truly restful night’s sleep. The coils also create a firmer and more responsive surface that is ideal for sex. And it’s great for hot sleepers because the coils promote steady airflow throughout the mattress core and maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.

Idle Hybrid is a hybrid mattress with Sleep Number’s Dual Air technology. Our patented design pushes individual inflatable chambers, and an internal SmartClimate™ system. A microprocessor inside regulates the temperature alongside a cooling airflow channel system. The 6” hyper-elastic polyurethane foam core is wrapped in cotton ticking for great feel, and it has 3 layers of premium waterproof quilting for great durability. With this Hybrid mattress, we’ve created a product that is perfect for side sleepers and hot sleepers because the coils promote steady airflow throughout the mattress core and maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature

The Idle Hybrid mattress includes a right and left side, a king size bed frame, cover, and instructions to assemble the bed in about 20 minutes. The coils are encased in high quality foam to create a perfectly smooth surface. Each side of the mattress box also includes a plastic frame that you can attach to the base of your bed if you decide to keep the box-spring beneath your mattress. This allows you to easily transport and clean the mattress. The coils also make the surface feel quite responsive, which most couples prefer for sex.

Whether you sleep on your back, side or stomach, the integrated hybrid sleeper is designed to give you support where you need it. The mattress has the same support qualities as a conventional non-hybrid mattress and has a medium firm feel to it. The mattress is made with high quality materials and recent innovations in hybrid sleep technology to offer you the best rest possible.

With over 1,000 customer reviews and an overall rating of 4.6 stars, the Idle Hybrid mattress is a good mattress for back sleepers. It includes an open coil innerspring supporting core, organic cotton cover, and free white glove delivery service. Cocoon’s Chill, the world’s first and only memory foam mattress with built-in temperature management, for an optimal sleeping temperature throughout the night. Every Cocoon bed starts with our custom-designed, temperature-sensitive memory foam that has been engineered for comfort and cooling that is unmatched by any other sleep system on the market. The end result is a truly revolutionary mattress that adapts to every curve of your body for unparalleled pressure relief, decompression, and motion isolation; resulting in genuine regeneration.

The Parachute mattress comes in two different firmness levels: medium-firm and firm. It also comes with two different top layers. The classic model has an organic cotton cover, which is similar to the cover of a Parachute case. The case itself weighs about four pounds, making it lighter than the standard size pillow top mattress at about seven pounds. In addition, the Parachute mattress ships free within the contiguous United States and comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year limited warranty.

Parachute can help you make an informed decision. Rest assured, there is more than just hype about this mattress. We are optimistic that once you try it out for yourself, you’ll be as surprised as we were at how comfortable and supportive the Parachute mattress is.

The Parachute mattress is like a luxury hotel for your sleep. You get the comfort of fluffy pillows, the orthopedic support of a firm mattress, the cooling effect of a great mattress pad and you can brag about being environmentally friendly at the same time. So, if you’re looking for the perfect mix of comfort, functionality and sustainability, your search may be over.

The Parachute is a 12”, medium-firm innerspring mattress with some well-engineered features that may prove attractive to sleepers of all types. In particular many stomach sleepers may find the firmness and edge support to be extremely comfortable. A word of caution is warranted for heavier back sleepers who may find that the mattress can develop pressure points which could lead to tossing and turning.

When I first started reviewing mattresses, I had my heart set on reviewing a latex mattress. But after doing some research I learned that the newest memory foam mattress technology was significantly better. The Parachute was at the top of my list for several reasons.

While the Parachute is sold at a slightly higher price then most innersprings, it is slightly less expensive than the average luxury mattress. The Parachute mattress offers a 100-night sleep trial and a 10 year warranty as well as free shipping to many US states. Out of the available US-based online mattress companies, I would recommend trying out Parachute.

How Back Pain Destroys Sleep?

The impact of back pain on sleep presents an even greater challenge to people with chronic lower-back pain. In some cases, the pain lasts for years or could persist for decades and make it difficult or impossible to sleep restfully through the night.

Pregnant women have special issues when it comes to sleep. Getting deep, relaxing sleep as well as getting good quality sleep can be a real challenge. Sleep during pregnancy is important because not getting enough can lead to a variety of problems as well as poor fetal development. Some research has found that pregnant women who don’t get adequate sleep are more likely to have a negative mood and even depression. Their infants are also at risk for low birth weight, respiratory distress syndrome, and premature delivery.

A 2017 study by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine found that about two-thirds of people with chronic back pain had insomnia or other sleep disturbances. In this study, researchers looked at the association between pain severity and how it was affected by having poor sleep.

Together with other research published since 2014, these findings confirm that insomniacs tend to have more problems with pain than those who sleep well. A 2012 Canadian study also found that people who slept poorly had a greater likelihood of disability than those who had good sleep. This suggested that poor sleepers were more likely to be disabled than others, which is likely because they were in worse pain due to their sleeplessness.

There are two main factors to consider if you have back pain and are looking for a sleeping aid:

(1) choosing the ideal sleeping position for your back

(2) using a product that supports your healthy alignment. The following products are designed to address both of these factors.

Acacia is a small company in Berkeley, California that makes superior quality organic mattresses. Here’s their most popular model on Amazon in case you want to shop around.

If sitting or lying flat is not comfortable, try practicing lateral bending with a tennis or lacrosse ball between your lower back and the wall or floor. Resting on one side, bring one knee to chest, place elbow under knee, then use your free hand to brace the wall.

Receiving pain relief is a challenge for many patients with chronic back pain. Successful treatment may require things such as lifestyle changes, physical therapy and medication. For some patients, another option is spinal surgery. Back pain sufferers can take a number of steps to try to feel and sleep better. Getting medical help for serious back problems may help reduce pain. Treatments depend on the cause and nature of a person’s symptoms and can range from surgery to physical therapy to pain-relieving medications.

Smaller changes can contribute to pain reduction as well. Taking care when lifting, sitting with proper posture, and avoiding unnatural movements can reduce aggravation of back pain.

To cure back pain, there are things that we can do that may help reduce the amount of pain or discomfort. As with any major health issue, the first thing to do is visit your physician, who will be able to determine whether you are suffering from back pain related to an injury or a serious medical condition. Seeing your doctor can also help with answers to questions about appropriate treatment if you have back pain. Some tips for helping with your sleep while experiencing back pain include:

  • Using a firm mattress and pillow each night
  • Wearing loose fitting clothing around your waist
  • Avoiding beverages containing caffeine prior to bedtime
  • Relaxing in a hot bath before getting into bed

Types of Back Pain

Acute and chronic types of back pain can occur in a person of any age. In fact, back pain is quite common among adults. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, over eight in 10 people experience low back pain at some point in their lives.

An article published found that about one in four Americans suffers from chronic lower back pain. Back pain affects more women than men at a ratio of 3:2.

This designation has important implications in terms of how patients are treated. Acute back pain is likely to improve with self-care options, such as rest, ice, and over-the-counter medications. In some cases, acute back pain may also require prescription pain medication or even surgery. Rehabilitative exercises are most likely to be beneficial for acute back pain.

Acute back pain that lasts longer than 3 months may be classified as chronic back pain, which is caused by a condition called spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis refers to the excessive narrowing of the spinal canal that results when intervertebral disks (which are largely composed of cartilage) wear out over time, break down and shrink.

Pain in the lower back tends to be synonymous with sciatica, which is the compression of a spinal nerve root. Lower back pain, however, can come from a myriad of reasons. The following are some of the most common reasons for lower back pain.

Contrary to what many people think, lower back pain is not inevitable as you grow older. Depending on the cause, there are several simple treatments that can help reduce or even eliminate lower back pain.

Whether your back problems are due to age, an injury, or arthritis, chiropractic care can help.

Middle back pain can range from a dull ache to a sharp, stabbing sensation. Some conditions, like disc herniation, can even cause radiating pain down into the arms or legs, usually concentrated in the hands and fingers or feet and toes. Because middle back problems are rarer than lower back issues, it is important to not just treat your symptoms with pain relievers and muscle relaxants but see your doctor for treatment. He or she will be able to determine the true cause of your middle back pain and prescribe the most suitable treatment path for you. Pain in the upper back is diagnosed based on the location and severity of the discomfort and typically involves the muscles, bones, nerves, joints, and soft tissue that make up this area of the body.

When the upper back is involved in an injury or ailment, the ability to move and stretch at certain joints may be limited, resulting in restricted movement capabilities. If lower-back pain prevents one from stretching at a joint on one side of their body, it could start to negatively impact upper-back pain as well. Pain may be felt when performing an action such as lifting, reaching overhead or bending forward.

How To Treat Middle Back Pain

Treating the middle back pain starts with addressing the underlying cause. If you suffer from recurring middle back pain, it can be helpful to see a chiropractor. One of the most common causes of recurring pain is nerve damage resulting from a herniated disc or spondylolisthesis. These conditions are often resolved with non-surgical treatment methods, like deep tissue or trigger point therapy provided by a chiropractor.

Does Sleeping Position Affect Back Pain?

Side sleepers tend to have the most pressure points in their shoulders, hips and lower back. A mattress that is too firm can force the body into an unnatural alignment, pushing the shoulder blade and pelvis upwards into an uncomfortable position. A mattress that is too soft will not hold the spine in the correct alignment, leading to sore muscles and joints. A Medium-Firm to Firm mattress alleviates both of these issues.

Sleeping on your back is a position in which the natural curvature of the spine is gently maintained. In this position, you’ll notice that the shoulder blade area and the lower back tend to be the main pressure points. Sleeping on a mattress that is too soft in this position will result in an increased curve at the neck, and cause neck and shoulder pain. A mattress that is too firm will have the opposite effect, as it will not provide enough support for your body to maintain its curvature; instead, it will push against it and lead to discomfort.

The ideal mattress for stomach sleepers will be soft enough to accommodate their hips and pelvis, but sturdy enough not to allow the torso to sink in too deeply. A Medium-Soft to Soft mattress tends to work best for this type of sleeper because it provides the support they need in their hips and spine without causing them to conform to the shape of the mattress.

About 80% of individuals who sleep on their side report experiencing pressure points or numbness between their legs, which is usually a result of the lower back being forced into an unnatural position. By selecting a mattress with the right degree of firmness and thickness, you can help keep your spine properly aligned when sleeping on your side.

People who weigh under 130 pounds are less prone to sinking into the bed, and can sleep on a softer, more contouring mattress without the same risks of the body sagging out of alignment. In fact, to get the support that they need, lighter-weight side sleepers often find that they need a firmer mattress than heavier people, who tend to feel more comfortable on a Medium or Medium-Firm mattress.

People with back pain and other conditions or injuries tend to feel better if they sleep on a Medium-Firm mattress. The extra support reduces stress on their ligaments, joints and muscles while still allowing some give and contouring in the areas where they need it most.

Does a Mattress Cause Back Pain?

A lot of people don’t realize that their mattress could be causing them discomfort because they’re never taught how to recognize it. Mattresses designed for stomach sleepers are often only useful for those who sleep on their side, as they don’t provide the support needed to prevent back pain in the morning. When it comes to getting a good night of sleep and preventing back pain, it’s usually best to invest in a mattress that works with your sleeping position, not against it.

If your mattress is causing pain, you’ll find some relief by making a few strategic changes. Step one is to try different sleeping positions. Because these will affect the pressure points, while one may relieve the back pain another might cause it. Experiment with your partner as well, because oftentimes there are differences in how we are shaped that alter which position is most comfortable.

This might seem simple enough but oftentimes sleepers lose track of their body mechanics and position themselves in ways that aren’t best for them throughout the night, leading to unnecessary strain. For example, people with bad back pain tend to pull their shoulder blades together when they sleep on their side.

Which Mattress is Best for Back Pain?

Learning about the different types of mattresses out there can help you identify what features and approaches are most important to you. Below, our guide to mattress types will get you started by showing you five of the most common mattress types on the market. We’ll also dive a little deeper into each bed type so you can learn more about their construction, materials, and application. Learn all the features associated with each style so you can quickly and accurately identify what is right for your preferences, comfort needs, and overall health and wellness.

As you research each type in the guide below, keep in mind that many mattresses can be grouped multiple ways.

Hybrids are constructed with an innerspring support core that is supplemented by a significant comfort system that may include layers of foam, latex, micro-coils, cotton or fiber fill, down, and/or wool. The comfort layers on a hybrid are much more robust than on an innerspring mattress.

A hybrid is a great choice for sleepers with multiple sensitivity concerns. Hybrids are great for sleepers whose top priority is spinal support and pressure relief, while their supportive layers help keep the sleeper cool. Because hybrids (with the exception of mattress type “H”) generally have about ¾” to 1 ½” of polyfoam comfort layers, they are also firm enough to accommodate back and stomach sleepers.

Innerspring models tend to be on the firm side, but it can vary depending on the brand and model. Although innersprings are not as customizable as other options, they are available in a wide variety of firmness levels and special features (e.g., temperature control, dual-controlled models). Innersprings are one of the best options for those who desire a nice amount of support yet still want a cheap price.

Durable and Firm. When it comes to durability, innersprings win out. Because the coils are protected from abuse by a mattress protector or ticking, they can last a long time and may even outlive you. They are also firmer than other bed types, which some people prefer. Additionally, gel-infused coils can be very comfortable and adjustable.

In general, innerspring mattresses give you a lot of bang for your buck. The price is reasonable, while the comfort level is usually pretty high. Innerspring mattresses have been around for more than 100 years and are backed by some of the biggest names in the business like: Serta, Sealy, Simmons and many others.

Latex mattresses are very popular with people who require support and conforming comfort. As a result, latex is prized in the mattress industry and can be found in a variety of different models.

These are 10 questions that you need to keep in mind for your latex mattress purchase.

Highlight: Enhance the features of a latex bed. When you sleep on an air bed, properly supporting your hips, shoulders and head requires extra padding under the area of pressure.

Latex mattresses have an essential contouring effect, which means they are both firm and highly elastic. This allows latex to provide great support for all areas of the body and still provide a cushioning effect that is more significant than you would expect from a mattress with no springs.

Latex mattresses tend to give a medium-firm feel that may be too firm for some sleepers. Latex tends to be supportive and conforming, and a latex mattress could be a good choice for back, stomach or side sleepers. Here’s why you should reconsider getting a latex mattress:

I’ve been a fan of latex mattresses for the last 6 years and my first latex mattress was a Casper. I didn’t know much about it except that it was supposed to be a good mattress and it came with a 100 night trial so I went ahead and ordered one.

Airbeds can make for a more comfortable night’s sleep. The inflatable support core is said to be more supportive than typical innersprings, giving it the edge for side sleepers. What’s more, while it does conform to your body, it is less likely to mold into a concave form over time because it is able to inflate and deflate quickly as you move through the night. That means the same level of support is there every time you lie down — big advantage if you wake up with a sore body part (or back) regularly.

Airbeds are adjustable, providing a multitude of firmness options that go beyond traditional mattresses. Airbeds help you sleep on your back or side with ease. You don’t sink into an airbed. The chamber system provides support and stability.

Airbeds have been used in hospitals for years under different names. The idea of using multiple chambers to provide a fully customized level of support is highly desirable for back and joint pain sufferers. The technology has been slowly trickling into the residential market over the past few years, but is only now gaining steam.

A memory foam mattress is made up of a high density viscoelastic foam. It conforms to the body’s shape and weight. Viscoelastic foam can be used singly or in layers. The innovative manufacturing techniques and materials used to produce these mattresses are such that it relieves pressure points, and provides the ultimate in sleeping comfort. Its elastic properties allow it to capture every curve of the back, supporting your natural stance. A further plus is that it provides firm support which allows you to have a deep sleep, free from any form of pain.

Highlight: Pressure relief. Memory foam contours effectively to help distribute body weight over a wider area. This relieves painful pressure points and promotes better blood circulation throughout the body.

Memory foam mattresses have taken the market by storm, and for good reason: they can conform to the exact shape of your body, and also relieve pressure points, making you feel more comfortable.

How To Find Mattress On a Budget?

A mattress is one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make, but odds are a mattress isn’t at the top of your list in terms of cost. This is because mattresses aren’t viewed as an essential like food or clothing.

When it comes to purchasing mattresses online, there are three major considerations:

For many, the biggest advantage is comfort. Buying an online mattress lets you order a highly customized product that fits your body like a glove. Because they need to offer a better value proposition and price compared to their in-store counterparts, most online mattress retailers have a lot of flexibility with their designs, either giving buyers the chance to adjust key components or at least customize one of their standard models.

While you’re unlikely to find exact models at physical stores that are sold purely online, a well-known brand name will give you confidence purchasing an online product and backing it with its sleep trial and warranty. You should also have no problem returning an item bought

In the continental United States, delivery is typically free with the mattress being shipped as a “bed-in-a-box.” The mattress is compressed and sealed in plastic to do this. Within a matter of hours, it regains its full size when you remove it from its packaging. This acts as a quick way to set up the mattress without having to negotiate with a delivery team in your bedroom.

For many, the idea of buying a mattress online is a foreign concept. But more and more customers are making the switch, and for good reason. The Internet streamlines the shopping experience to make it quicker, easier, and cheaper than going into a physical store. Plus, customers have access to reviews and comparison tests that can help them select the right mattress every time. Despite these benefits, a lot of people are still hesitant to buy mattresses online. To convince them otherwise, I put together this guide highlighting the top four reasons why buying an online mattress is better than choosing one in-store.

Mattress Toppers

Toppers are a great solution for changing up your comfort level on a budget. The mattress industry offers lots of options, but toppers can be tailored to your needs since they are typically less expensive than complete mattresses.

Based on the softness level and firmness of your mattress, adding a topper can relieve pressure on your hips and shoulders as well as improve your spinal alignment. A high-quality mattress that may not offer enough cushioning can be recovered with a higher density foam topper.

For people who want to break up their sleep into different periods during the night, toppers also give you the opportunity for a different experience when turning or changing positions.

Allergy sufferers who don’t want to replace their mattresses with one made without key allergens can cover their mattress with a hypoallergenic topper.

Considering how well we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed it makes sense to invest in a quality

When deciding what mattress topper to buy, consider how you want it to feel and your budget. Keep in mind that a layer of foam is not a miracle worker and will not be as effective in relieving back pain as a completely new mattress.

Some mattress toppers are an inexpensive solution for adding comfort and can be expected to last for 3 to 6 months before the foams begin to break down. More expensive options made from latex or memory foam may cost up to $2,000.

When shopping for a mattress, the most important factor is the size of the bed frame in your home. Since you are buying online, it makes sense to select a vendor that offers free shipping and return policy protection.

When most people think memory foam, they think Tempur-Pedic, and for good reason. Since the early 90s, they have been at the forefront of developing technology to get rid of heat build-up within memory foam mattresses. As a result, they have quite a few options that are perfect for keeping you cool while you sleep.

If you’re looking for a memory foam option that stays cool, here are three great options that will offer some relief from the heat of the night:

If you dig Purple, the Purple 4-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper is a pretty great choice (if a bit on the pricey side). Not only will it soften firm surfaces beneath it, but you can adjust this.

What Features To Look In a Mattress For Back Pain?

If you’re shopping for a new mattress to help relieve your back pain, you may wonder which features are the most important. It can be hard to get a handle on all of the products and marketing hype out there — especially if this is your first time buying a mattress (or even your first online purchase). It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of the data. But if you know what to look for, you can get a lot more mileage out of your purchase.

Over the past decade, the mattress industry has gone through a radical shift in design and materials. An evolution of better mattresses has occurred, where consumers now have greater access to variety than ever before. But with a growth in variety, there is also an overwhelming amount of options to choose from and information to decipher. This has led many shoppers to be very confused or simply baffled when it comes to selecting a mattress. The most difficult decision for shoppers will be deciding on what type of mattress they should buy – considering the number of options you have.

A mattress should offer support from all areas of the body, but not in an even distribution. Zoned support means a mattress is designed to offer pressure relief, comfort and proper alignment in certain (usually common, like the hips and shoulders) pressure points.

When you are considering buying a mattress, it is important to know what kind of mattress is best for a person with back pain. The quality of materials that go into the mattress provide the foundation for how well it will meet your needs and how long it will last. A mattress made with excellent materials is much more likely to provide the performance, reliability, and durability that people with back pain need.

Firmness is a key driver of mattress comfort and is largely a matter of personal preference. At the same time, the right firmness level can play a big part in whether a mattress offers sufficient support, and that will depend significantly on a person’s body weight and sleeping position. This article considers what contributes to firmness level – in other words, how much a mattress (or any support structure) can be compressed under different loads, or, relating to mattresses in particular, under different body weights.
